Location

Hotel Concordia is at number 72 Via Roma, the street that runs from Palermo Centrale station through the city's historic centre. It is a lively, busy area on the edge of the Kalsa district, and most of Palermo's monuments and museums can be reached on foot.

Getting there

From Falcone Borsellino Airport, 22 km away, the simplest option is the Prestia e Comandè bus, which runs every half hour and reaches its terminus at the central station, 300 m from the hotel, in about 50 minutes. The train to Palermo Centrale, from the terminal basement, takes about an hour; taxis wait outside Arrivals. The hotel can also arrange a shuttle on request, with a charge, to be booked 24 hours ahead.

If you are driving, bear in mind the old town's ZTL restricted traffic zone, which covers Via Roma: guests of hotels may drive in on arrival and out on departure, so ask the hotel how to register your number plate. There is public street parking in the area. From the port, a taxi is the easiest choice, about 20 minutes.

What to see

Just a few steps away is Palazzo Ajutamicristo, a late Gothic palace from the end of the fifteenth century; a little further on are the Fontana Pretoria and the Quattro Canti. Within about ten minutes on foot you reach the Botanical Garden, the Puppet Museum, the Salinas Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral and the Teatro Massimo.

The centre holds several monuments of the Arab-Norman route, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015: San Giovanni degli Eremiti and the Cappella Palatina inside the Royal Palace are about a kilometre away, the Ponte dell'Ammiraglio a little further, the Zisa just over 2 km. The Foro Italico seafront is 900 m away; for Mondello you need the bus. In mid-July the Festino di Santa Rosalia fills the streets of the centre.
